How does online check-in work?
Once you have made a flight booking visit the ‘My Monarch’ area of our website and click on the check-in link. Online check-in opens 7 days prior to departure. Search for your flight booking by entering the booking reference and the email address that you used to make the booking.
The check-in process is very quick and simple. If you haven’t already pre-paid any applicable hold baggage charges or pre-allocated seats with your booking you will be asked to do so and charged the appropriate seat fees. By choosing your seat in advance you can ensure you sit together with family/friends and there is no need to rush at the airport.
You will also be asked standard security questions regarding your baggage, your identification and whether you require any special assistance. Upon acceptance of the security questions and payment of any appropriate seat fees you will be fully checked in. It’s as simple as that!
All you then need to do is print off the boarding pass for each of the passengers you have checked in and bring the passes to the airport with you. If you do not have a printer set up to your computer, please do not check-in online.
Can I check in online for all Monarch flights?
At the moment check-in is only available on outbound scheduled flights from Luton, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham airports. Online check in is not currently available for Monarch charter flights (flight numbers beginning MON).
Online check-in is available from 7 days prior to departure and closes at 4.5 hours prior to departure.
Occasionally, for operational or technical reasons, online check-in may not be available.
Connecting flights
Please note, Monarch does not operate a connecting flight service and is therefore not liable for any losses or expenses arising out of any failure to achieved a planned connection as a result of delay or cancellation of a Monarch flight. We strongly advise all passengers to take out suitable travel insurance that includes cover for missed departures.
Provided you are aged 12 or over (or are travelling with other passengers aged 16 or over), are not travelling with an infant or in a group of 10 passengers or more, and do not require special assistance at the airport then you can check in online at flyMonarch.com. The service is only available for scheduled flights with Monarch (flight number starting ZB) and not any Monarch charter flights (flight number starting MON). If you ARE travelling with an infant or require special assistance please check-in at the airport as normal. Similarly, if you are travelling in a large group of 10 passengers or more, then you will also have to check in at the airport and not online.
IMPORTANT:If you do not have a valid European passport , are travelling with infants and/or require special assistance you need to check in at the airport and not online, so that our agents can ensure the appropriate arrangements are made. Passengers under 12 cannot check-in online or at the airport unless accompanied by an adult over 16.
If you have made your flight booking through a travel agent (where your own email address was not used to make the booking) you unfortunately cannot use online check-in. Similarly, if you do not have an email address associated with your booking (e.g you booked by telephone and your itinerary was posted to you) then you cannot use online check-in. This is because we require both the booking reference and email address associated with the booking in order retrieve your flight details.
No problem! You can still check in online provided that your baggage meets the following security criteria:
Is there a charge to use online check-in?
Online check-in is free. However, if you have not already pre-allocated your seats before checking in then you will be asked to do so during the online check-in process. By choosing your seat in advance you can ensure you sit together with family/friends and there is no need to rush at the airport. You can also take the opportunity to upgrade to extra legroom if you wish. Normal seat fees apply, view fees.
What documents do I need to take to the airport?
Boarding passes are accessed from a link on the final page of the check-in process. Every passenger who has checked in online has their own unique boarding pass and must print this out and bring it with them to the airport. Your boarding pass is an official security document and so you should ensure that it is kept safely until your flight is complete. In addition, every passenger must have a valid passport. We reserve the right to deny boarding and cancel your reservation if you do not have the relevant documentation.
What should I do if I cannot print the boarding pass?
If you experience difficulties accessing or printing your online boarding pass then, on arrival at the airport, you will need to visit a Monarch check-in desk as normal in order to obtain a traditional boarding pass. Check-in desks close 40 minutes prior to departure. We are unable to accept any faded or blurry home printed boarding passes because these will not be suitable for scanning at security and bag drop desks. We reserve the right to deny boarding and cancel your reservation if you do not obtain a valid boarding pass.
Who can I call for help with the online check in process?
If you need help during the online check-in process then please call our internet helpdesk on 0901 555 999 between 8:00 - 20:00 every day except bank holidays (calls cost 50p per minute and may vary depending on your service provider). However, please note that our reservations agents cannot complete the process for you and cannot produce boarding passes. Therefore, if you have any difficulty completing the final stage of the online process please check-in at the airport as normal.
What happens if I lose my home printed boarding pass?
If you lose, forget or damage your home printed boarding pass either before arrival at the airport or at any point prior to departure you will be required to visit a Monarch check-in desk to obtain a replacement. Check-in desks close 40 minutes prior to departure. We reserve the right to deny boarding and cancel your reservation if you do not obtain a valid boarding pass.
What time does the fast bag drop desk open?
Fast bag drop desks are open from 3 hours prior to departure, closing 1 hour before departure. Please allow plenty of time for checking in your baggage, clearing security and proceeding to departures. Bear in mind that some departure gates are some distance from check-in.
What time do I need to arrive at the departure gate?
Please make sure you arrive at the departure gate at least 45 minutes before departure. Gates close 45 minutes prior to departure and we reserve the right to deny boarding and cancel the reservation of any passenger arriving after this deadline. Please allow plenty of time to get to the departure gate, bearing in mind that security control can get very busy at peak times and some departure gates are quite a distance from check-in.
In the event of a delay, please ensure you still arrive at the airport according to your original flight time in case there is any further change to your flight.
Can I change my flight after checking in?
No. Changes cannot be made to your flight reservation after checking in.
